“But turn, all of you, and come now! I will not find a wise man among you.

“Without a doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand that we don’t understand?

My days have passed, my plans are shattered, even the desires of my heart.

Because you have closed their minds to understanding, therefore you will not exalt them.

Why should we be regarded as beasts, and considered stupid in your sight?

It is not the aged who are wise, nor old men who understand what is right.

After the Lord had spoken these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My anger is stirred up against you and your two friends, because you have not spoken about me what is right, as my servant Job has.

Relent, let there be no falsehood; reconsider, for my righteousness is intact!

Then once more you will see that I make a distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves God and the one who does not.

Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?

I say this to your shame! Is there no one among you wise enough to settle disputes between fellow Christians?
