“But now, ask the animals and they will teach you, or the birds of the sky and they will tell you.

when you turn your rage against God and allow such words to escape from your mouth?

But it was he who filled their houses with good things – yet the counsel of the wicked was far from me.

God may let them rest in a feeling of security, but he is constantly watching all their ways.

If a land has been given into the hand of a wicked man, he covers the faces of its judges; if it is not he, then who is it?

Lord, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring.

Do not fret when wicked men seem to succeed! Do not envy evildoers!

I have seen ruthless evil men growing in influence, like a green tree grows in its native soil.

For I envied those who are proud, as I observed the prosperity of the wicked.

When the wicked sprout up like grass, and all the evildoers glisten, it is so that they may be annihilated.

Lord, you have always been fair whenever I have complained to you. However, I would like to speak with you about the disposition of justice. Why are wicked people successful? Why do all dishonest people have such easy lives?

Like a cage filled with the birds that have been caught, their houses are filled with the gains of their fraud and deceit. That is how they have gotten so rich and powerful.

That is how they have grown fat and sleek. There is no limit to the evil things they do. They do not plead the cause of the fatherless in such a way as to win it. They do not defend the rights of the poor.

They sweep by like the wind and pass on. But the one who considers himself a god will be held guilty.”
