Do not speak against one another, brothers and sisters. He who speaks against a fellow believer or judges a fellow believer speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but its judge.

A slanderer will not endure on the earth; calamity will hunt down a violent man and strike him down.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Therefore you are without excuse, whoever you are, when you judge someone else. For on whatever grounds you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things.

For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous before God, but those who do the law will be declared righteous.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! Certainly, I would not have known sin except through the law. For indeed I would not have known what it means to desire something belonging to someone else if the law had not said, “Do not covet.”

So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition from God.

For I am afraid that somehow when I come I will not find you what I wish, and you will find me not what you wish. I am afraid that somehow there may be quarreling, jealousy, intense anger, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

You must put away every kind of bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and evil, slanderous talk.

Likewise also their wives must be dignified, not slanderous, temperate, faithful in every respect.

unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good,

Older women likewise are to exhibit behavior fitting for those who are holy, not slandering, not slaves to excessive drinking, but teaching what is good.

Do not be led astray, my dear brothers and sisters.

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters! Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.

But the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there, and does not become a forgetful listener but one who lives it out – he will be blessed in what he does.

But if you fulfill the royal law as expressed in this scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.

As an example of suffering and patience, brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name.

So be patient, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s return. Think of how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient for it until it receives the early and late rains.

Do not grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be judged. See, the judge stands before the gates!

So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.
