Isaiah 60:21

New English Translation

All of your people will be godly; they will possess the land permanently. I will plant them like a shoot; they will be the product of my labor, through whom I reveal my splendor.

I will establish a place for my people Israel and settle them there; they will live there and not be disturbed any more. Violent men will not oppress them again, as they did in the beginning

He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, through whom I will reveal my splendor.”

to strengthen those who mourn in Zion, by giving them a turban, instead of ashes, oil symbolizing joy, instead of mourning, a garment symbolizing praise, instead of discouragement. They will be called oaks of righteousness, trees planted by the Lord to reveal his splendor.

Instead of shame, you will get a double portion; instead of humiliation, they will rejoice over the land they receive. Yes, they will possess a double portion in their land and experience lasting joy.

You will no longer be called, “Abandoned,” and your land will no longer be called “Desolate.” Indeed, you will be called “My Delight is in Her,” and your land “Married.” For the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married to him.

Yet, Lord, you are our father. We are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the product of your labor.

I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah people to take possession of my mountains. My chosen ones will take possession of the land; my servants will live there.

I will look after their welfare and will restore them to this land. There I will build them up and will not tear them down. I will plant them firmly in the land and will not uproot them.

I will take delight in doing good to them. I will faithfully and wholeheartedly plant them firmly in the land.’

“Therefore say: ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: When I regather you from the peoples and assemble you from the lands where you have been dispersed, I will give you back the country of Israel.’

I will prepare for them a healthy planting. They will no longer be victims of famine in the land and will no longer bear the insults of the nations.

They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers lived; they will live in it – they and their children and their grandchildren forever. David my servant will be prince over them forever.

When I had returned, I noticed a vast number of trees on the banks of the river, on both sides.

I will plant them on their land and they will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God.

But on Mount Zion there will be a remnant of those who escape, and it will be a holy place once again. The descendants of Jacob will conquer those who had conquered them.

The Israelites who remain will not act deceitfully. They will not lie, and a deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouth. Indeed, they will graze peacefully like sheep and lie down; no one will terrify them.”

And he replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

He takes away every branch that does not bear fruit in me. He prunes every branch that bears fruit so that it will bear more fruit.

so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, would be to the praise of his glory.

to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.

For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

when he comes to be glorified among his saints and admired on that day among all who have believed – and you did in fact believe our testimony.

but nothing ritually unclean will ever enter into it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or practices falsehood, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

You have appointed them as a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”
