For if you refuse to release them and continue holding them,

Too bad for the wicked sinners! For they will get exactly what they deserve.

“But tell the people of Jerusalem that the Lord says, ‘I will give you a choice between two courses of action. One will result in life; the other will result in death.

Tell them that the Lord says, ‘You must obey me! You must live according to the way I have instructed you in my laws.

They will surround Jerusalem like men guarding a field because they have rebelled against me,” says the Lord.

“Make an announcement throughout Egypt. Proclaim it in Migdol, Memphis, and Tahpanhes. ‘Take your positions and prepare to do battle. For the enemy army is destroying all the nations around you.’

I will bring on you an avenging sword, a covenant vengeance. Although you will gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you and you will be given into enemy hands.

I will scatter you among the nations and unsheathe the sword after you, so your land will become desolate and your cities will become a waste.

Each will sit under his own grapevine or under his own fig tree without any fear. The Lord who commands armies has decreed it.

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen?

in hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the ages began.

But if you don’t obey the Lord and rebel against what the Lord says, the hand of the Lord will be against both you and your king.

But if you continue to do evil, both you and your king will be swept away.”

The Preeminent One of Israel does not go back on his word or change his mind, for he is not a human being who changes his mind.”
