And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. He did not pay any attention to this.

but those who did not take the word of the Lord seriously left their servants and their cattle in the field.

Let us carefully examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord.

Because he considered and turned from all the sins he had done, he will surely live; he will not die.

The man said to me, “Son of man, watch closely, listen carefully, and pay attention to everything I show you, for you have been brought here so that I can show it to you. Tell the house of Israel everything you see.”

Then he said to me, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel, for from the very first day you applied your mind to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come in response to your words.

When the king heard this, he was very upset and began thinking about how he might rescue Daniel. Until late afternoon he was struggling to find a way to rescue him.

“Is it right for you to live in richly paneled houses while my temple is in ruins?

You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but are never filled. You drink, but are still thirsty. You put on clothes, but are not warm. Those who earn wages end up with holes in their money bags.’”

“Moreover, the Lord who rules over all says: ‘Pay close attention to these things also.

But when he came to his senses he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have food enough to spare, but here I am dying from hunger!

Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless, indeed, you fail the test!

Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else.
