Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough near a spring whose branches climb over the wall.

The sleep of the laborer is pleasant – whether he eats little or much – but the wealth of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

I have seen personally what is the only beneficial and appropriate course of action for people: to eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all their hard work on earth during the few days of their life which God has given them, for this is their reward.

All of man’s labor is for nothing more than to fill his stomach – yet his appetite is never satisfied!

You will hear a word spoken behind you, saying, “This is the correct way, walk in it,” whether you are heading to the right or the left.

This is the person who will live in a secure place; he will find safety in the rocky, mountain strongholds; he will have food and a constant supply of water.

They will be spread out and exposed to the sun, the moon and the stars. These are things they adored and served, things to which they paid allegiance, from which they sought guidance, and worshiped. The bones of these people will never be regathered and reburied. They will be like manure used to fertilize the ground.

They were both righteous in the sight of God, following all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly.

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

For our reason for confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity which are from God – not by human wisdom but by the grace of God – we conducted ourselves in the world, and all the more toward you.

This is the blessing Moses the man of God pronounced upon the Israelites before his death.

Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,

exhorting and encouraging you and insisting that you live in a way worthy of God who calls you to his own kingdom and his glory.

By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph and worshiped as he leaned on his staff.
