The Lord appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest time of the day.

Then the Lord said, “Should I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

Some time after these things God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am!” Abraham replied.

But the Lord’s angel called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am!” he answered.

The Lord’s angel called to Abraham a second time from heaven

“Once during breeding season I saw in a dream that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked, speckled, and spotted.

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the sacred stone and made a vow to me. Now leave this land immediately and return to your native land.’”

But God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and warned him, “Be careful that you neither bless nor curse Jacob.”

There he said to them, “I can tell that your father’s attitude toward me has changed, but the God of my father has been with me.

Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him even more.

God spoke to Israel in a vision during the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He replied, “Here I am!”

When the Lord saw that he had turned aside to look, God called to him from within the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”

Then you will call out, and the Lord will respond; you will cry out, and he will reply, ‘Here I am.’ You must remove the burdensome yoke from among you and stop pointing fingers and speaking sinfully.

The Lord said, “Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known to him in a vision; I will speak with him in a dream.

As he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a message to him: “Have nothing to do with that innocent man; I have suffered greatly as a result of a dream about him today.”

However, Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son!” He replied, “Here I am.”

The Lord called to Samuel, and he replied, “Here I am!”

The Lord again called, “Samuel!” So Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But Eli said, “I didn’t call you, my son. Go back and lie down.”

Then the Lord called Samuel a third time. So he got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me!” Eli then realized that it was the Lord who was calling the boy.
