Genesis 25:34

Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew; Esau ate and drank, then got up and went out. So Esau despised his birthright.

Now Jacob cooked some stew, and when Esau came in from the open fields, he was famished.

But Jacob said, “Swear an oath to me now.” So Esau swore an oath to him and sold his birthright to Jacob.

There was a famine in the land, subsequent to the earlier famine that occurred in the days of Abraham. Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines at Gerar.

His father Isaac asked, “Who are you?” “I am your firstborn son,” he replied, “Esau!”

They rejected the fruitful land; they did not believe his promise.

So I recommend the enjoyment of life, for there is nothing better on earth for a person to do except to eat, drink, and enjoy life. So joy will accompany him in his toil during the days of his life which God gives him on earth.

But look, there is outright celebration! You say, “Kill the ox and slaughter the sheep, eat meat and drink wine. Eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

The Lord then said to me, “Throw to the potter that exorbitant sum at which they valued me!” So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the temple of the Lord.

But they were indifferent and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.

and said, “What will you give me to betray him into your hands?” So they set out thirty silver coins for him.

‘Look, you scoffers; be amazed and perish! For I am doing a work in your days, a work you would never believe, even if someone tells you.’”

If from a human point of view I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what did it benefit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.
