I will greatly multiply your descendants,” the Lord’s angel added, “so that they will be too numerous to count.”

The Lord’s angel found Hagar near a spring of water in the desert – the spring that is along the road to Shur.

One of them said, “I will surely return to you when the season comes round again, and your wife Sarah will have a son!” (Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, not far behind him.

In the dream the angel of God said to me, ‘Jacob!’ ‘Here I am!’ I replied.

the Angel who has protected me from all harm – bless these boys. May my name be named in them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. May they grow into a multitude on the earth.”

The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from within a bush. He looked – and the bush was ablaze with fire, but it was not being consumed!

I solemnly make this oath – what I say is true and reliable: ‘Surely every knee will bow to me, every tongue will solemnly affirm;

I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

On that day the Lord himself will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the weakest among them will be like mighty David, and the dynasty of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord before them.

Then the angel of the Lord exhorted Joshua solemnly:

“After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to him in the desert of Mount Sinai, in the flame of a burning bush.

Now when God made his promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,

Then the angel I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven
