Abram continually journeyed by stages down to the Negev.

So Abram went up from Egypt into the Negev. He took his wife and all his possessions with him, as well as Lot.

Then they attacked En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh) again, and they conquered all the territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who were living in Hazazon Tamar.

Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had not given birth to any children, but she had an Egyptian servant named Hagar.

That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi. (It is located between Kadesh and Bered.)

The Lord’s angel found Hagar near a spring of water in the desert – the spring that is along the road to Shur.

The Lord appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest time of the day.

So Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for quite some time.

Now Isaac came from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev.

His descendants settled from Havilah to Shur, which runs next to Egypt all the way to Asshur. They settled away from all their relatives.

There was a famine in the land, subsequent to the earlier famine that occurred in the days of Abraham. Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines at Gerar.

the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water belongs to us!” So Isaac named the well Esek because they argued with him about it.

Now Abimelech had come to him from Gerar along with Ahuzzah his friend and Phicol the commander of his army.

The Lord’s shout shakes the wilderness, the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

Then Moses led Israel to journey away from the Red Sea. They went out to the Desert of Shur, walked for three days into the desert, and found no water.

They came back to Moses and Aaron and to the whole community of the Israelites in the wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They reported to the whole community and showed the fruit of the land.

So when we cried to the Lord, he heard our voice and sent a messenger, and has brought us up out of Egypt. Now we are here in Kadesh, a town on the edge of your country.

Then we left Horeb and passed through all that immense, forbidding wilderness that you saw on the way to the Amorite hill country as the Lord our God had commanded us to do, finally arriving at Kadesh Barnea.

for both of you rebelled against me among the Israelites at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the desert of Zin when you did not show me proper respect among the Israelites.

Then Saul struck down the Amalekites all the way from Havilah to Shur, which is next to Egypt.
