Abraham looked up and saw three men standing across from him. When he saw them he ran from the entrance of the tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.

Abram bowed down with his face to the ground, and God said to him,

When the men got up to leave, they looked out over Sodom. (Now Abraham was walking with them to see them on their way.)

The two men turned and headed toward Sodom, but Abraham was still standing before the Lord.

He said, “My lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by and leave your servant.

The two angels came to Sodom in the evening while Lot was sitting in the city’s gateway. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face toward the ground.

Abraham got up and bowed down to the local people, the sons of Heth.

When the members of the prophetic guild in Jericho, who were standing at a distance, saw him do this, they said, “The spirit that energized Elijah rests upon Elisha.” They went to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

Contribute to the needs of the saints, pursue hospitality.

Do not neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.

When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him holding a drawn sword. Joshua approached him and asked him, “Are you on our side or allied with our enemies?”

Show hospitality to one another without complaining.

The Lord’s angelic messenger appeared to the woman and said to her, “You are infertile and childless, but you will conceive and have a son.

Ruth knelt before him with her forehead to the ground and said to him, “Why are you so kind and so attentive to me, even though I am a foreigner?”
