God said, “No, Sarah your wife is going to bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm my covenant with him as a perpetual covenant for his descendants after him.

One of them said, “I will surely return to you when the season comes round again, and your wife Sarah will have a son!” (Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, not far behind him.

Is anything impossible for the Lord? I will return to you when the season comes round again and Sarah will have a son.”

The Lord visited Sarah just as he had said he would and did for Sarah what he had promised.

So Israel began his journey, taking with him all that he had. When he came to Beer Sheba he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

Then he blessed Joseph and said, “May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked – the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day,

“O that you would hide me in Sheol, and conceal me till your anger has passed! O that you would set me a time and then remember me!

God heard their groaning, God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob,

He added, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

He has done this to show mercy to our ancestors, and to remember his holy covenant –

He told them, “You are not permitted to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.

For this is what the promise declared: “About a year from now I will return and Sarah will have a son.”

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.

By faith he lived as a foreigner in the promised land as though it were a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were fellow heirs of the same promise.
