And the Lord did this on the next day; all the livestock of the Egyptians died, but of the Israelites’ livestock not one died.

He rained hail down on their cattle, and hurled lightning bolts down on their livestock.

He sent his anger in full force; he did not spare them from death; he handed their lives over to destruction.

I will pass through the land of Egypt in the same night, and I will attack all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of humans and of animals, and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the Lord.

It happened at midnight – the Lord attacked all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the prison, and all the firstborn of the cattle.

But on that day I will mark off the land of Goshen, where my people are staying, so that no swarms of flies will be there, that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of this land.

The hail struck everything in the open fields, both people and animals, throughout all the land of Egypt. The hail struck everything that grows in the field, and it broke all the trees of the field to pieces.

Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived, was there no hail.

But the Lord will distinguish between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, and nothing will die of all that the Israelites have.”’”

The Lord set an appointed time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this in the land.”
