“When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Do a miracle,’ and you say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ it will become a snake.”

So Moses extended his staff over the land of Egypt, and then the Lord brought an east wind on the land all that day and all night. The morning came, and the east wind had brought up the locusts!

You will also take in your hand this staff, with which you will do the signs.”

The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A staff.”

Then Moses took his wife and sons and put them on a donkey and headed back to the land of Egypt, and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

The Lord said, “Throw it to the ground.” So he threw it to the ground, and it became a snake, and Moses ran from it.

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

When Moses extended his staff toward the sky, the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire fell to the earth; so the Lord caused hail to rain down on the land of Egypt.

“Ask for a confirming sign from the Lord your God. You can even ask for something miraculous.”

Tell them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘Look, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster lying in the midst of its waterways, who has said, “My Nile is my own, I made it for myself.”

But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

But if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may come to know and understand that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.”

So then the Jewish leaders responded, “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”

So they said to him, “Then what miraculous sign will you perform, so that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?
