“You must not oppress a foreigner, since you know the life of a foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

They kill the widow and the one residing outside his native land, and they murder the fatherless.

However, if the injured servant survives one or two days, the owner will not be punished, for he has suffered the loss.

“Whoever sacrifices to a god other than the Lord alone must be utterly destroyed.

“You must not wrong a foreigner nor oppress him, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have wronged the poor and needy; they have oppressed the foreigner who lives among them and denied them justice.

They have treated father and mother with contempt within you; they have oppressed the foreigner among you; they have wronged the orphan and the widow within you.

When a foreigner resides with you in your land, you must not oppress him.

Should you not have shown mercy to your fellow slave, just as I showed it to you?’

So you must love the resident foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

You must not hate an Edomite, for he is your relative; you must not hate an Egyptian, for you lived as a foreigner in his land.

‘Cursed is the one who perverts justice for the resident foreigner, the orphan, and the widow.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
