But they did not listen to Moses; some kept part of it until morning, and it was full of worms and began to stink, and Moses was angry with them.

Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”

So they gathered it each morning, each person according to what he could eat, and when the sun got hot, it would melt.

So they put it aside until the morning, just as Moses had commanded, and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it.

(Now the man Moses was very humble, more so than any man on the face of the earth.)

Moses was very angry, and he said to the Lord, “Have no respect for their offering! I have not taken so much as one donkey from them, nor have I harmed any one of them!”

“Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

After looking around at them in anger, grieved by the hardness of their hearts, he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

Then he said to them, “Watch out and guard yourself from all types of greed, because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide yourselves purses that do not wear out – a treasure in heaven that never decreases, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on the cause of your anger.

Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”
