The Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, in order to display these signs of mine before him,

God is a just judge; he is angry throughout the day.

But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not release the Israelites.

So I will extend my hand and strike Egypt with all my wonders that I will do among them, and after that he will release you.

The Lord said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders I have put under your control. But I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.

Pharaoh will not listen to you. I will reach into Egypt and bring out my regiments, my people the Israelites, from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.

But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the Lord had predicted to Moses.

But for this purpose I have caused you to stand: to show you my strength, and so that my name may be declared in all the earth.

So Pharaoh sent and summoned Moses and Aaron and said to them, “I have sinned this time! The Lord is righteous, and I and my people are guilty.

“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and understand with their heart, and turn to me, and I would heal them.”

For the scripture says to Pharaoh: “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may demonstrate my power in you, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.”

So then, God has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens whom he chooses to harden.

for the Lord determined to make them obstinate so they would attack Israel. He wanted Israel to annihilate them without mercy, as he had instructed Moses.

Too bad for us! Who can deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all sorts of plagues in the desert!
