So the Lord was furious with Israel and rejected them; only the tribe of Judah was left.

So the Lord rejected all of Israel’s descendants; he humiliated them and handed them over to robbers, until he had thrown them from his presence.

Finally the Lord rejected Israel just as he had warned he would do through all his servants the prophets. Israel was deported from its land to Assyria and remains there to this very day.

Early the next morning they marched out to the Desert of Tekoa. When they were ready to march, Jehoshaphat stood up and said: “Listen to me, you people of Judah and residents of Jerusalem! Trust in the Lord your God and you will be safe! Trust in the message of his prophets and you will win.”

Why do you hide your face and regard me as your enemy?

But if God is quiet, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, then who can see him? Yet he is over the individual and the nation alike,

For these are rebellious people – they are lying children, children unwilling to obey the Lord’s law.

No one invokes your name, or makes an effort to take hold of you. For you have rejected us and handed us over to our own sins.

The prophets prophesy lies. The priests exercise power by their own authority. And my people love to have it this way. But they will not be able to help you when the time of judgment comes!

Even if they raise their children, I will take away every last one of them. Woe to them! For I will turn away from them.

Jesus answered, “You unbelieving and perverse generation! How much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I endure you? Bring him here to me.”

He answered them, “You unbelieving generation! How much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I endure you? Bring him to me.”

I tell you, he will give them justice speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

For I know that after I die you will totally corrupt yourselves and turn away from the path I have commanded you to walk. Disaster will confront you in the days to come because you will act wickedly before the Lord, inciting him to anger because of your actions.”

His people have been unfaithful to him; they have not acted like his children – this is their sin. They are a perverse and deceitful generation.

And when he sent you from Kadesh-Barnea and told you, “Go up and possess the land I have given you,” you rebelled against the Lord your God and would neither believe nor obey him.

and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil people. For not all have faith.

Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

One of you makes a thousand run away, for the Lord your God fights for you as he promised you he would.
