Look, he has placed the land in front of you! Go up, take possession of it, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, said to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged!”

When you go to war against your enemies and see chariotry and troops who outnumber you, do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, is with you.

As you move forward for battle, the priest will approach and say to the soldiers,

See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.

Compete well for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life you were called for and made your good confession for in the presence of many witnesses.

So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

One of you makes a thousand run away, for the Lord your God fights for you as he promised you he would.

Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. The devil is about to have some of you thrown into prison so you may be tested, and you will experience suffering for ten days. Remain faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown that is life itself.

David said to Saul, “Don’t let anyone be discouraged. Your servant will go and fight this Philistine!”
