You must serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will remove sickness from your midst.

The blessing from the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow to it.

So the warden agreed to their proposal and tested them for ten days.

You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but are never filled. You drink, but are still thirsty. You put on clothes, but are not warm. Those who earn wages end up with holes in their money bags.’”

‘You expected a large harvest, but instead there was little, and when you brought it home it disappeared right away. Why?’ asks the Lord who rules over all. ‘Because my temple remains in ruins, thanks to each of you favoring his own house!

If you do not listen and take seriously the need to honor my name,” says the Lord who rules over all, “I will send judgment on you and turn your blessings into curses – indeed, I have already done so because you are not taking it to heart.

But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
