Acts 5:30

The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, whom you seized and killed by hanging him on a tree.

David went out to meet them and said, “If you come to me in peace and want to help me, then I will make an alliance with you. But if you come to betray me to my enemies when I have not harmed you, may the God of our ancestors take notice and judge!”

O Lord God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, maintain the motives of your people and keep them devoted to you.

Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, who so moved in the heart of the king to so honor the temple of the Lord which is in Jerusalem!

as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

He has done this to show mercy to our ancestors, and to remember his holy covenant –

We are witnesses of all the things he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree,

that this promise God has fulfilled to us, their children, by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second psalm, ‘You are my Son; today I have fathered you.’

This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it.

Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has already chosen you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear a command from his mouth,

God raised up his servant and sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your iniquities.”

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed.
