a promise that our twelve tribes hope to attain as they earnestly serve God night and day. Concerning this hope the Jews are accusing me, Your Majesty!

For the dedication of this temple of God they offered one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and twelve male goats for the sin of all Israel, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

The exiles who were returning from the captivity offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel – twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven male lambs, along with twelve male goats as a sin offering. All this was a burnt offering to the Lord.

because you are especially familiar with all the customs and controversial issues of the Jews. Therefore I ask you to listen to me patiently.

So for this reason I have asked to see you and speak with you, for I am bound with this chain because of the hope of Israel.”

and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

We pray earnestly night and day to see you in person and make up what may be lacking in your faith.

But the widow who is truly in need, and completely on her own, has set her hope on God and continues in her pleas and prayers night and day.
