But I found that he had done nothing that deserved death, and when he appealed to His Majesty the Emperor, I decided to send him.

Then the officials and all the people rendered their verdict to the priests and the prophets. They said, “This man should not be condemned to die. For he has spoken to us under the authority of the Lord our God.”

and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. When I examined him before you, I did not find this man guilty of anything you accused him of doing.

Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no basis for an accusation against this man.”

Pilate asked, “What is truth?” When he had said this he went back outside to the Jewish leaders and announced, “I find no basis for an accusation against him.

I found he was accused with reference to controversial questions about their law, but no charge against him deserved death or imprisonment.

There was a great commotion, and some experts in the law from the party of the Pharisees stood up and protested strongly, “We find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

But I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore I have brought him before you all, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after this preliminary hearing I may have something to write.

and as they were leaving they said to one another, “This man is not doing anything deserving death or imprisonment.”

When it was decided we would sail to Italy, they handed over Paul and some other prisoners to a centurion of the Augustan Cohort named Julius.

When they had heard my case, they wanted to release me, because there was no basis for a death sentence against me.
