Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying in En Rogel. A female servant would go and inform them, and they would then go and inform King David. It was not advisable for them to be seen going into the city.

As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the commanding officer, “May I say something to you?” The officer replied, “Do you know Greek?

When the argument became so great the commanding officer feared that they would tear Paul to pieces, he ordered the detachment to go down, take him away from them by force, and bring him into the barracks.

Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to report to him.”

The next day they let the horsemen go on with him, and they returned to the barracks.

He ordered the centurion to guard Paul, but to let him have some freedom, and not to prevent any of his friends from meeting his needs.

For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”
