Acts 20:1

New English Translation

After the disturbance had ended, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them and saying farewell, he left to go to Macedonia.

Now Israel’s eyes were failing because of his age; he was not able to see well. So Joseph brought his sons near to him, and his father kissed them and embraced them.

and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught a significant number of people. Now it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.

and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of that district of Macedonia, a Roman colony. We stayed in this city for some days.

A vision appeared to Paul during the night: A Macedonian man was standing there urging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!”

Now after all these things had taken place, Paul resolved to go to Jerusalem, passing through Macedonia and Achaia. He said, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”

But Paul went down, threw himself on the young man, put his arms around him, and said, “Do not be distressed, for he is still alive!”

After he had gone through those regions and spoken many words of encouragement to the believers there, he came to Greece,

where he stayed for three months. Because the Jews had made a plot against him as he was intending to sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.

They all began to weep loudly, and hugged Paul and kissed him,

in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem even as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.

All the brothers and sisters send greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.

But I will come to you after I have gone through Macedonia – for I will be going through Macedonia –

Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you.

For even when we came into Macedonia, our body had no rest at all, but we were troubled in every way – struggles from the outside, fears from within.

Greet all the brothers and sisters with a holy kiss.

As I urged you when I was leaving for Macedonia, stay on in Ephesus to instruct certain people not to spread false teachings,
