He motioned to them with his hand to be quiet and then related how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, “Tell James and the brothers these things,” and then he left and went to another place.

So Simon Peter gestured to this disciple to ask Jesus who it was he was referring to.

After this Jesus traveled throughout Galilee. He stayed out of Judea because the Jewish leaders wanted to kill him.

Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple area.

In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,

Now Peter continued knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were greatly astonished.

At daybreak there was great consternation among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.

So Paul stood up, gestured with his hand and said, “Men of Israel, and you Gentiles who fear God, listen:

After they stopped speaking, James replied, “Brothers, listen to me.

When they came out of the prison, they entered Lydia’s house, and when they saw the brothers, they encouraged them and then departed.

Some of the crowd concluded it was about Alexander because the Jews had pushed him to the front. Alexander, gesturing with his hand, was wanting to make a defense before the public assembly.

The next day Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were there.

When the commanding officer had given him permission, Paul stood on the steps and gestured to the people with his hand. When they had become silent, he addressed them in Aramaic,

The brothers from there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. When he saw them, Paul thanked God and took courage.

Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord’s brother.

Until certain people came from James, he had been eating with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he stopped doing this and separated himself because he was afraid of those who were pro-circumcision.

and when James, Cephas, and John, who had a reputation as pillars, recognized the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, agreeing that we would go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
