and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

These all died in faith without receiving the things promised, but they saw them in the distance and welcomed them and acknowledged that they were strangers and foreigners on the earth.

But in your case, dear friends, even though we speak like this, we are convinced of better things relating to salvation.

You have purified your souls by obeying the truth in order to show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a pure heart.
