he stood his ground and fought the Philistines until his hand grew so tired that it seemed stuck to his sword. The Lord gave a great victory on that day. When the army returned to him, the only thing left to do was to plunder the corpses.

But he made a stand in the middle of that area. He defended it and defeated the Philistines; the Lord gave them a great victory.

But Saul said, “No one will be killed on this day. For today the Lord has given Israel a victory!”

So the Lord delivered Israel that day, and the battle shifted over to Beth Aven.

Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come on, let’s go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will intervene for us. Nothing can prevent the Lord from delivering, whether by many or by a few.”

When the Israelites returned from their hot pursuit of the Philistines, they looted their camp.

He risked his life when he struck down the Philistine and the Lord gave all Israel a great victory. When you saw it, you were happy. So why would you sin against innocent blood by putting David to death for no reason?”
