He did what the Lord approved and followed in his ancestor David’s footsteps; he did not deviate to the right or the left.

You must obey all I command you to do, follow my instructions, do what I approve, and keep my rules and commandments, like my servant David did. Then I will be with you and establish for you a lasting dynasty, as I did for David; I will give you Israel.

Asa did what the Lord approved like his ancestor David had done.

He did what the Lord approved, just as his ancestor David had done.

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed in his ancestor David’s footsteps at the beginning of his reign. He did not seek the Baals,

He did what the Lord approved, just as his ancestor David had done.

This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what the Lord his God considered good and right and faithful.

Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned for thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

Even a young man is known by his actions, whether his activity is pure and whether it is right.

Do not turn to the right or to the left; turn yourself away from evil.

This is the prophetic message that the Lord gave to Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah. Zephaniah delivered this message during the reign of King Josiah son of Amon of Judah:

Be careful, therefore, to do exactly what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn right or left!

Make sure you are very strong and brave! Carefully obey all the law my servant Moses charged you to keep! Do not swerve from it to the right or to the left, so that you may be successful in all you do.
