Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel. He said, “Come, let’s meet face to face.”

The rest of the events of Joash’s reign, including all his accomplishments and his successful war with King Amaziah of Judah, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Israel.

But Amaziah would not heed the warning, so King Jehoash of Israel attacked. He and King Amaziah of Judah met face to face in Beth Shemesh of Judah.

When Amaziah returned from defeating the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people of Seir and made them his personal gods. He bowed down before them and offered them sacrifices.

With pride comes only contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised.

Starting a quarrel is like letting out water; stop it before strife breaks out!

The lips of a fool enter into strife, and his mouth invites a flogging.

Plans are established by counsel, so make war with guidance.

Do not go out hastily to litigation, or what will you do afterward when your neighbor puts you to shame?

If only these men were under my command, I would get rid of Abimelech!” He challenged Abimelech, “Muster your army and come out for battle!”
