Therefore this is what the Lord says, “You will not leave the bed you lie on, for you will certainly die!”’” So Elijah went on his way.

When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you returned?”

They replied, “A man came up to meet us. He told us, “Go back to the king who sent you and tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says: “You must think there is no God in Israel! That explains why you are sending for an oracle from Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron. Therefore you will not leave the bed you lie on, for you will certainly die.”’”

In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Give your household instructions, for you are about to die; you will not get well.’”

Elisha said to him, “Go and tell him, ‘You will surely recover,’ but the Lord has revealed to me that he will surely die.”

True righteousness leads to life, but the one who pursues evil pursues it to his own death.

The wicked will be thrown down in his trouble, but the righteous have refuge even in the threat of death.

Indeed! All lives are mine – the life of the father as well as the life of the son is mine. The one who sins will die.
