The dove could not find a resting place for its feet because water still covered the surface of the entire earth, and so it returned to Noah in the ark. He stretched out his hand, took the dove, and brought it back into the ark.

After the disturbance had ended, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them and saying farewell, he left to go to Macedonia.

For Macedonia and Achaia are pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

Every day I am in danger of death! This is as sure as my boasting in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.

But I will come to you after I have gone through Macedonia – for I will be going through Macedonia –

I had no relief in my spirit, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said good-bye to them and set out for Macedonia.

And I wrote this very thing to you, so that when I came I would not have sadness from those who ought to make me rejoice, since I am confident in you all that my joy would be yours.

For this reason also I wrote you: to test you to see if you are obedient in everything.

I fear for you that my work for you may have been in vain.

The sword will make people childless outside, and terror will do so inside; they will destroy both the young man and the virgin, the infant and the gray-haired man.

So when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter somehow tempted you and our toil had proven useless.
