Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned for thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

With the authority of the Lord he cried out against the altar, “O altar, altar! This is what the Lord says, ‘Look, a son named Josiah will be born to the Davidic dynasty. He will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who offer sacrifices on you. Human bones will be burned on you.’”

The king summoned all the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem.

Joash was seven years old when he began to reign. He reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. His mother was Zibiah, who was from Beer Sheba.

All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in his father Amaziah’s place.

Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned for fifty-five years in Jerusalem.

The people of the land executed all who had conspired against King Amon, and they made his son Josiah king in his place.

A poor but wise youth is better than an old and foolish king who no longer knows how to receive advice.

The Lord began to speak to him in the thirteenth year that Josiah son of Amon ruled over Judah.

“For the last twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year that Josiah son of Amon was ruling in Judah until now, the Lord has been speaking to me. I told you over and over again what he said. But you would not listen.

When Josiah was king of Judah, the Lord said to me, “Jeremiah, you have no doubt seen what wayward Israel has done. You have seen how she went up to every high hill and under every green tree to give herself like a prostitute to other gods.

This is the prophetic message that the Lord gave to Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah. Zephaniah delivered this message during the reign of King Josiah son of Amon of Judah:

The one who had received five talents went off right away and put his money to work and gained five more.

Now Samuel was ministering before the Lord. The boy was dressed in a linen ephod.

Now the boy Samuel was growing up and finding favor both with the Lord and with people.
