Now, don’t be stubborn like your fathers! Submit to the Lord and come to his sanctuary which he has permanently consecrated. Serve the Lord your God so that he might relent from his raging anger.

Yet the Lord’s great anger against Judah did not subside; he was still infuriated by all the things Manasseh had done.

Now I intend to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, so that he may relent from his raging anger.

But now I have chosen Jerusalem as a place to live, and I have chosen David to lead my people Israel.’

Now I have chosen and consecrated this temple by making it my permanent home; I will be constantly present there.

Let our leaders take steps on behalf of all the assembly. Let all those in our towns who have married foreign women come at an appointed time, and with them the elders of each town and its judges, until the hot anger of our God is turned away from us in this matter.”

Yes, in the sanctuary I have seen you, and witnessed your power and splendor.

They see your processions, O God – the processions of my God, my king, who marches along in holy splendor.

They come with red cloth from Egypt, Ethiopia voluntarily offers tribute to God.

Then I entered the precincts of God’s temple, and understood the destiny of the wicked.

His raging anger lashed out against them, He sent fury, rage, and trouble as messengers who bring disaster.

Then the Lord said to Moses: “I have seen this people. Look what a stiff-necked people they are!

Shout the battle cry from all around the city. She will throw up her hands in surrender. Her towers will fall. Her walls will be torn down. Because I, the Lord, am wreaking revenge, take out your vengeance on her! Do to her as she has done!

Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me, and where I am, my servant will be too. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

But about Israel he says, “All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!”

But now, freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

Therefore, cleanse your heart and stop being so stubborn!

You must revere the Lord your God, serve him, and take oaths using only his name.

Keep his commandments very carefully, as well as the stipulations and statutes he commanded you to observe.

If you have no desire to worship the Lord, choose today whom you will worship, whether it be the gods whom your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But I and my family will worship the Lord!”

For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve him day and night in his temple, and the one seated on the throne will shelter them.
