The Lord who rules over all says, ‘Disaster will soon come on one nation after another. A mighty storm of military destruction is rising up from the distant parts of the earth.’

If an alarm sounds in a city, do people not fear? If disaster overtakes a city, is the Lord not responsible?

I will overthrow royal thrones and shatter the might of earthly kingdoms. I will overthrow chariots and those who ride them, and horses and their riders will fall as people kill one another.

For nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

The Lord was furious with Israel and handed them over to robbers who plundered them. He turned them over to their enemies who lived around them. They could not withstand their enemies’ attacks.
