So when Rehoboam humbled himself, the Lord relented from his anger and did not annihilate him; Judah experienced some good things.

What if there are fifty godly people in the city? Will you really wipe it out and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty godly people who are in it?

All Israel will mourn him and bury him. He is the only one in Jeroboam’s family who will receive a decent burial, for he is the only one in whom the Lord God of Israel found anything good.

Whenever the king visited the Lord’s temple, the royal guards carried them and then brought them back to the guardroom.

Nevertheless you have done some good things; you removed the Asherah poles from the land and you were determined to follow the Lord.”

For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy: “I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.

Even if only a tenth of the people remain in the land, it will again be destroyed, like one of the large sacred trees or an Asherah pole, when a sacred pillar on a high place is thrown down. That sacred pillar symbolizes the special chosen family.”

The Lord’s loyal kindness never ceases; his compassions never end.

For he is not predisposed to afflict or to grieve people. ל (Lamed)

And God will exalt you in due time, if you humble yourselves under his mighty hand
