David said to him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?” The young man said, “I am an Egyptian, the servant of an Amalekite man. My master abandoned me when I was ill for three days.

David said to the young man who told this to him, “Where are you from?” He replied, “I am an Amalekite, the son of a resident foreigner.”

David asked him, “Where are you coming from?” He replied, “I have escaped from the camp of Israel.”

He asked me, ‘Who are you?’ I told him, ‘I’m an Amalekite.’

A righteous person cares for the life of his animal, but even the most compassionate acts of the wicked are cruel.

They said to him, “Tell us, whose fault is it that this disaster has overtaken us? What’s your occupation? Where do you come from? What’s your country? And who are your people?”

For judgment is merciless for the one who has shown no mercy. But mercy triumphs over judgment.

They gave him a slice of pressed figs and two bunches of raisins to eat. This greatly refreshed him, for he had not eaten food or drunk water for three days and three nights.
