So Saul feared David, because the Lord was with him but had departed from Saul.

I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are. I will speak about you to my father. When I find out what the problem is, I will let you know.”

Jonathan said to David, “The Lord God of Israel is my witness. I will feel out my father about this time the day after tomorrow. If he is favorably inclined toward David, will I not then send word to you and let you know?

While I am still alive, extend to me the loyalty of the Lord, or else I will die!

God will severely punish David, if I leave alive until morning even one male from all those who belong to him!”

Eli said, “What message did he speak to you? Don’t conceal it from me. God will judge you severely if you conceal from me anything that he said to you!”
