So Jehu got up and went inside. Then the prophet poured the olive oil on his head and said to him, “This is what the Lord God of Israel says, ‘I have designated you as king over the Lord’s people Israel.

You are the source of wealth and honor; you rule over all. You possess strength and might to magnify and give strength to all.

Hezekiah was very wealthy and greatly respected. He made storehouses for his silver, gold, precious stones, spices, and all his other valuable possessions.

He built royal cities and owned a large number of sheep and cattle, for God gave him a huge amount of possessions.

He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return there. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. May the name of the Lord be blessed!”

Look at every proud man and abase him; crush the wicked on the spot!

For God is the judge! He brings one down and exalts another.

The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the creator of them both.

Indeed, the Lord who commands armies has planned a day of judgment, for all the high and mighty, for all who are proud – they will be humiliated;

The Lord says to Edom, “I will certainly make you small among nations. I will make you despised by all humankind.

All the trees of the field will know that I am the Lord. I make the high tree low; I raise up the low tree. I make the green tree wither, and I make the dry tree sprout. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it!’”

Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.
