When Jacob saw the look on Laban’s face, he could tell his attitude toward him had changed.

Wrath is cruel and anger is overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?

Then I considered all the skillful work that is done: Surely it is nothing more than competition between one person and another. This also is profitless – like chasing the wind.

This made Saul very angry. The statement displeased him and he thought, “They have attributed to David tens of thousands, but to me they have attributed only thousands. What does he lack, except the kingdom?”

Then Saul told his son Jonathan and all his servants to kill David. But Saul’s son Jonathan liked David very much.
