His royal court was so large because he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the Euphrates River from Tiphsah to Gaza; he was at peace with all his neighbors.

(5:1) Solomon ruled all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These kingdoms paid tribute as Solomon’s subjects throughout his lifetime.

He will rule on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom, establishing it and strengthening it by promoting justice and fairness, from this time forward and forevermore. The Lord’s intense devotion to his people will accomplish this.

The Lord spoke to the prophet Jeremiah about the Philistines before Pharaoh attacked Gaza.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people with whom he is pleased!”

The men of Judah captured Gaza, Ashkelon, Ekron, and the territory surrounding each of these cities.

Samson went to Gaza. There he saw a prostitute and went in to have sex with her.
