Now the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the prophets are in complete agreement that the king will succeed. Your words must agree with theirs; you must predict success.”
All the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, “Attack Ramoth Gilead! You will succeed; the Lord will hand it over to the king.”
But Micaiah said, “As certainly as the Lord lives, I will say what the Lord tells me to say.”
He says to himself, “God overlooks it; he does not pay attention; he never notices.”
In the Lord I have taken shelter. How can you say to me, “Flee to a mountain like a bird!
Fools say to themselves, “There is no God.” They sin and commit evil deeds; none of them does what is right.
When you did these things, I was silent, so you thought I was exactly like you. But now I will condemn you and state my case against you!
The royal advisers delight the king with their evil schemes, the princes make him glad with their lies.
If a lying windbag should come and say, ‘I’ll promise you blessings of wine and beer,’ he would be just the right preacher for these people!
