The Lord answered Elijah’s prayer; the boy’s breath returned to him and he lived.

Elijah took the boy, brought him down from the upper room to the house, and handed him to his mother. Elijah then said, “See, your son is alive!”

One day some men were burying a man when they spotted a raiding party. So they threw the dead man into Elisha’s tomb. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the dead man came to life and stood on his feet.

Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who carried it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”

But Jesus gently took her by the hand and said, “Child, get up.”

When he had said this, he shouted in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”

They took the boy home alive and were greatly comforted.

For this reason Christ died and returned to life, so that he may be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

“See now that I, indeed I, am he!” says the Lord, “and there is no other god besides me. I kill and give life, I smash and I heal, and none can resist my power.

and women received back their dead raised to life. But others were tortured, not accepting release, to obtain resurrection to a better life.

But after three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and tremendous fear seized those who were watching them.

The Lord both kills and gives life; he brings down to the grave and raises up.
