While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard about it, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting,

But the population of the city was divided; some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Have courage, for just as you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.”

But the Lord said to him, “Go, because this man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before Gentiles and kings and the people of Israel.

So Ananias departed and entered the house, placed his hands on Saul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came here, has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

As he was going along, approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.

So he said, “Who are you, Lord?” He replied, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!

From Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God.

Through him we have received grace and our apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles on behalf of his name.

Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Seeing that I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

From Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Sosthenes, our brother,

I do not mean yours but the other person’s. For why is my freedom being judged by another’s conscience?

If I partake with thankfulness, why am I blamed for the food that I give thanks for?

If anyone intends to quarrel about this, we have no other practice, nor do the churches of God.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused it to grow.

For since I am free from all I can make myself a slave to all, in order to gain even more people.

You are looking at outward appearances. If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should reflect on this again: Just as he himself belongs to Christ, so too do we.

For I consider myself not at all inferior to those “super-apostles.”

Now because we are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

From Paul, an apostle (not from men, nor by human agency, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead)

For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.

nor to seek glory from people, either from you or from others,

For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle – I am telling the truth; I am not lying – and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher.
