Now David had been told, “Ahithophel has sided with the conspirators who are with Absalom. So David prayed, “Make the advice of Ahithophel foolish, O Lord!”

In those days Ahithophel’s advice was considered as valuable as a prophetic revelation. Both David and Absalom highly regarded the advice of Ahithophel.

Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Arkite sounds better than the advice of Ahithophel.” Now the Lord had decided to frustrate the sound advice of Ahithophel, so that the Lord could bring disaster on Absalom.

When Ahithophel realized that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and returned to his house in his hometown. After setting his household in order, he hanged himself. So he died and was buried in the grave of his father.

So they hanged Haman on the very gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. The king’s rage then abated.

He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning is brought to a quick end.

Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I escape.

Come, let’s deal wisely with them. Otherwise they will continue to multiply, and if a war breaks out, they will ally themselves with our enemies and fight against us and leave the country.”

Now I know that the Lord is greater than all the gods, for in the thing in which they dealt proudly against them he has destroyed them.”

The wisdom of the shrewd person is to discern his way, but the folly of fools is deception.

There is no wisdom and there is no understanding, and there is no counsel against the Lord.

who frustrates the omens of the empty talkers and humiliates the omen readers, who overturns the counsel of the wise men and makes their advice seem foolish,

Now we do speak wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are perishing.

I have applied these things to myself and Apollos because of you, brothers and sisters, so that through us you may learn “not to go beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of the one against the other.

So we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.

Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.
