King David rose to his feet and said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the Lord’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. I have made the preparations for building it.

When Jacob was told, “Your son Joseph has just come to you,” Israel regained strength and sat up on his bed.

The king’s servants have even come to congratulate our master King David, saying, ‘May your God make Solomon more famous than you and make him an even greater king than you!’ Then the king leaned on the bed

“You know that my father David was unable to build a temple to honor the Lord his God, for he was busy fighting battles on all fronts while the Lord subdued his enemies.

He summoned his son Solomon and charged him to build a temple for the Lord God of Israel.

David said to Solomon: “My son, I really wanted to build a temple to honor the Lord my God.

These are the men David put in charge of music in the Lord’s sanctuary, after the ark was placed there.

Now my father David had a strong desire to build a temple to honor the Lord God of Israel.

Here is the Lord’s proclamation to my lord: “Sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool!”

He said, “This will be my resting place forever; I will live here, for I have chosen it.

and how he made a vow to the Lord, and swore an oath to the powerful ruler of Jacob.

I will declare your name to my countrymen! In the middle of the assembly I will praise you!

Praise the Lord our God! Worship before his footstool! He is holy!

The splendor of Lebanon will come to you, its evergreens, firs, and cypresses together, to beautify my palace; I will bestow honor on my throne room.

This is what the Lord says: “The heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where then is the house you will build for me? Where is the place where I will rest?

Alas! The Lord has covered Daughter Zion with his anger. He has thrown down the splendor of Israel from heaven to earth; he did not protect his temple when he displayed his anger. ב (Bet)

He said to me: “Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet, where I will live among the people of Israel forever. The house of Israel will no longer profane my holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their spiritual prostitution or by the pillars of their kings set up when they die.

The one who had received five talents went off right away and put his money to work and gained five more.

‘Heaven is my throne, and earth is the footstool for my feet. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is my resting place?

you must select without fail a king whom the Lord your God chooses. From among your fellow citizens you must appoint a king – you may not designate a foreigner who is not one of your fellow Israelites.

Then he will not exalt himself above his fellow citizens or turn from the commandments to the right or left, and he and his descendants will enjoy many years ruling over his kingdom in Israel.
