Nathan said to David, “You should do whatever you have in mind, for God is with you.”

Nathan replied to the king, “You should go and do whatever you have in mind, for the Lord is with you.”

Now my father David had a strong desire to build a temple to honor the Lord God of Israel.

When David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Look, I am living in a palace made from cedar, while the ark of the Lord’s covenant is under a tent.”

That night God told Nathan the prophet,

David said to Solomon: “My son, I really wanted to build a temple to honor the Lord my God.

King David rose to his feet and said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the Lord’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. I have made the preparations for building it.

May he grant your heart’s desire; may he bring all your plans to pass!

The Lord who rules over all says, ‘In those days ten people from all languages and nations will grasp hold of – indeed, grab – the robe of one Jew and say, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’”

The angel came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one, the Lord is with you!”

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part,

The men examined some of their provisions, but they failed to ask the Lord’s advice.

“When these signs have taken place, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God will be with you.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t be impressed by his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. God does not view things the way men do. People look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
