“They will plant their seeds in peace, their grapevines will have fruit, the ground will give good crops, and the sky will send rain. I will give all this to the people who are left alive.

Isaac planted seed in that land, and that year he gathered a great harvest. The Lord blessed him very much,

May God give you plenty of rain and good soil so that you will have plenty of grain and new wine.

Now Elijah the Tishbite was a prophet from the settlers in Gilead. “I serve the Lord, the God of Israel,” Elijah said to Ahab. “As surely as the Lord lives, no rain or dew will fall during the next few years unless I command it.”

Let there be peace on the mountains and goodness on the hills for the people.

The Lord will give his goodness, and the land will give its crops.

An angry king is like a roaring lion, but his kindness is like the dew on the grass.

At that time the Lord will send rain for the seeds you plant in the ground, and the ground will grow food for you. The harvest will be rich and great, and you will have plenty of food in the fields for your animals.

Instead of being ashamed, my people will receive twice as much wealth. Instead of being disgraced, they will be happy because of what they receive. They will receive a double share of the land, so their happiness will continue forever.

The people of Israel will come to the high points of Jerusalem and shout for joy. Their faces will shine with happiness about all the good things from the Lord: the grain, new wine, oil, young sheep, and young cows. They will be like a garden that has plenty of water, and they will not be troubled anymore.

They will not be led captive by the nations again. The wild animals will not eat them, but they will live safely, and no one will make them afraid.

I will cause my people Israel to walk on you and own you, and you will belong to them. You will never again take their children away from them.

I will increase the harvest of the field so you will never again suffer shame among the nations because of hunger.

I am concerned about you; I am on your side. You will be plowed, and seed will be planted in you.

So those people will be like the morning mist; they will disappear like the morning dew. They will be like chaff blown from the threshing floor, like smoke going out a window.

I will be like the dew to Israel, and they will blossom like a lily. Like the cedar trees in Lebanon, their roots will be firm.

He said to them: “I will send you grain, new wine, and olive oil, so that you will have plenty. No more will I shame you among the nations.

Wild animals, don’t be afraid, because the open pastures have grown grass. The trees have given fruit; the fig trees and the grapevines have grown much fruit.

“ ‘If you remember my laws and commands and obey them,

Those who are left alive in Israel won’t do wrong or tell lies; they won’t trick people with their words. They will eat and lie down with no one to make them afraid.”

Because of what you have done, the sky holds back its rain and the ground holds back its crops.

‘It is the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day in which the people finished working on the foundation of the Temple of the Lord. From now on, think about these things:

Do you have seeds for crops still in the barn? Your vines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not given fruit yet. But from now on I will bless you!’ ”

This is what the Lord All-Powerful says: “Those who are left alive then may think it is too difficult to happen, but it is not too difficult for me,” says the Lord All-Powerful.

I will stop the insects so they won’t eat your crops. The grapes won’t fall from your vines before they are ready to pick,” says the Lord All-Powerful.

Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well.

So you should not brag about human leaders. All things belong to you:

My teaching will drop like rain; my words will fall like dew. They will be like showers on the grass; they will pour down like rain on young plants.

Moses said this about the people of Joseph: “May the Lord bless their land with wonderful dew from heaven, with water from the springs below,

The people of Israel will lie down in safety. Jacob’s spring is theirs alone. Theirs is a land full of grain and new wine, where the skies drop their dew.

People who work for peace in a peaceful way plant a good crop of right-living.
