They are the people of Israel, God’s chosen children. They have seen the glory of God, and they have the agreements that God made between himself and his people. God gave them the law of Moses and the right way of worship and his promises.

Remember that in the past you were without Christ. You were not citizens of Israel, and you had no part in the agreements with the promise that God made to his people. You had no hope, and you did not know God.

He gave his word to Jacob, his laws and demands to Israel.

It is not that God failed to keep his promise to them. But only some of the people of Israel are truly God’s people,

I will make an agreement between us, and I will make you the ancestor of many people.”

This promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away. It is for everyone the Lord our God calls to himself.”

You are holy people who belong to the Lord your God. He has chosen you from all the people on earth to be his very own.

Then say to the king, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son.

The first agreement had rules for worship and a place on earth for worship.

You said, “I made an agreement with the man of my choice; I made a promise to my servant David.

The priests could not continue their work, because the Temple was filled with the glory of the Lord.

The Spirit we received does not make us slaves again to fear; it makes us children of God. With that Spirit we cry out, “Father.”

The law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

“This is the agreement I will make with the people of Israel at that time,” says the Lord: “I will put my teachings in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

You are the children of the Lord your God. When someone dies, do not cut yourselves or shave your heads to show your sadness.

And I will make an agreement between me and you and all your descendants from now on: I will be your God and the God of all your descendants.

These gifts and sacrifices were only about food and drink and special washings. They were rules for the body, to be followed until the time of God’s new way.

Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place.

As Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said, “Here is truly an Israelite. There is nothing false in him.”

“Listen to this story: There was a man who owned a vineyard. He put a wall around it and dug a hole for a winepress and built a tower. Then he leased the land to some farmers and left for a trip.

“When Israel was a child, I loved him, and I called my son out of Egypt.

“You know that Israel is my dear son, The child I love. Yes, I often speak against Israel, but I still remember him. I love him very much, and I want to comfort him,” says the Lord.

They will be crying as they come, but they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead those people by streams of water on an even road where they will not stumble. I am Israel’s father, and Israel is my firstborn son.

The sun will no longer be your light during the day nor will the brightness from the moon be your light, because the Lord will be your light forever, and your God will be your glory.

“Family of Jacob, listen to me! All you people from Israel who are still alive, listen! I have carried you since you were born; I have taken care of you from your birth.

The Lord says, “People of Israel, you are my servants. People of Jacob, I chose you. You are from the family of my friend Abraham.

He dug and cleared the field of stones and planted the best grapevines there. He built a tower in the middle of it and cut out a winepress as well. He hoped good grapes would grow there, but only bad ones grew.

Show your servants the wonderful things you do; show your greatness to their children.

I will not break my agreement nor change what I have said.

He let the Ark, his power, be captured; he let the Ark, his glory, be taken by enemies.

God is truly good to Israel, to those who have pure hearts.

I have seen you in the Temple and have seen your strength and glory.

Remember them, my God, because they made the priesthood unclean and the agreement of the priests and Levites unclean.

And the Lord said to Moses, “You will soon die. Then these people will not be loyal to me but will worship the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will leave me, breaking the Agreement I made with them.

But I am not just making this agreement and its promises with you

The Lord commanded Moses to make an agreement with the Israelites in Moab in addition to the agreement he had made with them at Mount Sinai. These are the words of that agreement.

When Moses went into the Meeting Tent to speak with the Lord, he heard the Lord speaking to him. The voice was coming from between the two gold creatures with wings that were above the lid of the Ark of the Agreement. In this way the Lord spoke with him.

Then the cloud covered the Meeting Tent, and the glory of the Lord filled the Holy Tent.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write down these words, because with these words I have made an agreement with you and Israel.”

Do this when you go to the land the Lord has promised to give you.

Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob. Your name will now be Israel, because you have wrestled with God and with people, and you have won.”

This is my agreement with you and all your descendants, which you must obey: Every male among you must be circumcised.

So on that day the Lord made an agreement with Abram and said, “I will give to your descendants the land between the river of Egypt and the great river Euphrates.

Yes, of course, there is in every way. The most important thing is this: God trusted the Jews with his teachings.

The Lord told you about his Agreement, the Ten Commandments. He told you to obey them, and he wrote them on two stone tablets.

The surrounding glow looked like the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day. It seemed to look like the glory of the Lord. So when I saw it, I bowed facedown on the ground and heard a voice speaking.

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they from Abraham’s family? So am I.

God made promises both to Abraham and to his descendant. God did not say, “and to your descendants.” That would mean many people. But God said, “and to your descendant.” That means only one person; that person is Christ.

Above the Ark were the creatures that showed God’s glory, whose wings reached over the lid. But we cannot tell everything about these things now.

When everything in the Tent was made ready in this way, the priests went into the first room every day to worship.
